April 30, 2022 was a big day in the live of Utah Desert Remote Observatories – we had our official Ground Breaking for the main observatory building where customers will rent a spot for their own remote imaging setup. Since we’re a night-sky business it only made sense to have the official photo of the groundbreaking under our dark, Bortle Class 2 sky.
We’ve been working for a year and even have one small observatory in operation (where you can rent an imaging system by the hour). Besides all of the federal, state and county regulatory requirements we’ve built roads, run power, water and internet and installed accessory support buildings. Yesterday the Caretakers’ modular home was delivered as well.
We still have a lot of work to do but we intend to have the main observatory up and running this summer.
